10am-12 noon Fridays, 9 February – 15 March 2024
Take a couple of hours out for for yourself! Explore Botanical Watercolours takes place each Friday morning for two hours over seven weeks in the beautiful Te Uru Gallery Education Centre overlooking lush Titirangi bush.
My focus is on creating a fun and relaxing environment for you and everybody who joins the class. It’s the perfect start for you if you’re interested in botanical watercolours but would like a little guidance on where and how to start.
Over the seven weeks we will look at techniques for observation, drawing, colour and watercolour painting techniques. Then we try and bring it all together. with curiosity and gentleness. Everybody has their own artistic direction within them and my job is to help you to reveal yours (the coffee and chocolate biscuits help).

A note on materials for this course-
Basic materials paper, pencils, erasers, basic student grade watercolours - are provided within the course fee.
A note on paints: While there is absolutely no pressure to go out and buy (it’s very tempting), my own experience is that I learn more and am happier using my own small (12 pan) palette of watercolour pigments by a good artist’s quality brand such as Winsor Newton or Schmincke. You can get these on sale if you keep an eye out and if you tell staff at Gordon Harris you are taking a class they will usually give you a small student discount. If you would like to book this course I’d be very bhappy to send you my advice on if and what to buy.
